Oh HOLE-y Night

You know that we can never resist a holiday pun at ♥JINGLE BELLES♥... the more egregious the better, lol! So what could we possibly mean by "Oh HOLE-y Night"?! If you guessed that we're making cards with windows or other apertures cut through them, you are exactly right!

Here's what we made this week:

Lauren says, "I love florals and greenery at any time of year, but maybe most of all at Christmas. Having just acquired Tim Holtz's "Holiday Greens" dies this week, there was no question that my window card was going to involve festive foliage. I used two successive sizes of Nestabilities' "Labels Two" to cut and mat my window, then added a beautiful Petaloo burlap poinsettia as the focal point. Inside the card, there's some vintage sheet music and a wood veneer sentiment to round out the design."

Stephanie says, "I created my three apertures using Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Film Strip Die Cut.  I cut the die in light blue & white, and attached the squares to the inside of my card.  Each square has a fun little 3-D epoxy owl sticker (you can see the inside view on my blog)."

So get out your favorite dies, punches or trusty Xacto knife and create a window card with us this week. Link-up by Wednesday, June 7th at 6pm (EST). Keyword for galleries for our Flickr Gallery is JB:17:11.

Azure All Stars

We loved seeing all of the gorgeous shades of blue in the gallery ... there are a few of our azure all stars:

rocked the deep navy hues ... the white Christmas tree and embossing
produce such a fabulous winter feel.

featured all sorts of tealy sky blue with the glittery sentiment
among the sparkling snowflakes being the fabulous focal point.

framed her gorgeous navy vintage image with a
navy-on-navy stamped pine cone frame and
the silver ribbon & stars are the perfect accents.

Navy Nativity

We're still celebrating a BLUE Christmas this week ... creating cards that predominantly feature shades of blue.

Here are our second cards:

Stephanie says, "I took my color & sketch inspiration from Fusion Card Challenge combining several navy patterned papers together with a pair of bells (or belles in our case) and sentiment from Stampin' Up."

Lauren says, "I have a nice little stash of vintage Christmas "Ideals" magazine. I love that almost every issue has a few pages that are printed in just shades of blue, like a colorful version of greyscale! I've used one here, as you can see, and added a few blue and white florals to add a bit of texture!"

Blue Christmas

In case you didn't already figure it out from the title of today's post, we're going BLUE at Jingle Belles ... we're creating holiday cards that predominantly feature the color BLUE ... it can be sky blue, royal blue, cornflower blue, or even azure ... as long as the card features mostly shades of BLUE you're good.

Here are our Blue Christmas creations for this week:

Lauren says, "I chose my blue in the form of my all-time favorite (well-hoarded, lol!) Basic Grey holiday paper, laden with layers of torn vintage book pages and doilies; then added some bold snowflakes diecut from a mash-up of Indigo and Ultramarine ColorBurst, with embossing paste highlights. A little more blue, in the form of inked edges, some wonky stitching, oversized rhinestones, and I was ready to call this one DONE!"

Stephanie says, "I usually prefer the deeper blues, but I went with softer shades for my first card.  I seriously over-bought those gorgeous felt snowflakes from Stampin' Up several years ago, so I'm trying to clear my stash.  I paired them with Lawn Fawn plaid paper, snowflake embossing, an Eyelet Outlet gem and Hero Arts sentiment ... all using this week's Sunday Stamps Sketch."

So go find your favorite blues and create a holiday card with us this week.  Link-up with us by Wednesday, May 24th at 6pm EST.  Keyword for galleries for our Flickr Gallery is JB:17:10

Nothin' but Love!

Our "True Love" goes out to all of the cards in the "12th Day of Christmas" gallery, every single one was as clever as it was beautiful. It just goes to prove yet again that we have the coolest participants EVER! Here are a few cards that made us especially happy this time:

...made one of the coolest and most creative cards we've seen in a long time! We *LOVE* her totally non-traditional take on "Five Golden Rings" using a beautiful vintage lightbulb stencil and some fun new inks! She even found the PERFECT sentiment!!! We couldn't be more impressed!

...re-purposed some rather fab Valentine dies to rock the heart theme, and built her luscious color palette around that adorable reindeer flair. Total slam dunk!

...had only one stamp which fit the theme, a "Partridge in a Pear Tree" but it was much too small. So she paper-pieced an image by hand, inspired by that stamp, using just basic punches and scissors!!! We bow to her cleverness AND her creativity!!! (Bonus points for the subtle heart pattern in the background, as well!)

Many thanks to everyone who played along, we LOVE to see what you will make each time! Please join us in an extra-helping of gratitude to the lovely Lela Meinke who thought up and shared this very clever and inspiring suggestion, we had so much fun playing with this idea!!!

We'll be back at midnight with a brand new prompt we hope will banish any incipient, long-distance, Christmas blues! ♥♥♥

12 Days of Christmas

Thanks to a great suggestion from our lovely friend Lela Meinke, we're still rockin' with the classic holiday tune, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" so here's a reminder of the options:

Create a holiday card for your *TRUE LOVE*
or for any extra-special person in your life
OR...
Create a holiday card with HEARTS on it
OR...
Create a holiday card that references any aspect of
"The 12 Days of Xmas" that appeals to you

Here's a reminder of that dozen rather distinctive gifts!

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love sent to me:
Twelve Drummers Drumming
Eleven Pipers Piping
Ten Lords a Leaping
Nine Ladies Dancing
Eight Maids a Milking
Seven Swans a Swimming
Six Geese a Laying
Five Golden Rings
Four Calling Birds
Three French Hens
Two Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree
♥♥♥

Lauren says, "This week I really DID go with the "easy" option of hearts, lol, thanks to having serendipitously stumbled upon this super-cute Doodlebug holiday paper! (...though I wouldn't rule out the possibility that marching, parade-style, behind Santa's Vespa are, in fact, 12 Drummers Drumming and all the rest of the gang...) I've used this week's Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge to guide my layout."

Stephanie says, "This week's card is a take on *12 Drummers Drumming* with my rock & roll Drum Set design.  I even used a Santa Sticker to create a Christmas skin for my bass drum."
